Read a roadbook
- PDF roadbooks from a scan or print run as a roll that you move on by tap.
- GPX roadbooks with the rally extension show tulips, notes, distances and speed limits from the file.
- Day and night view, your own notes on the roadbook and the map alongside.
Tripmaster and scoring
The tripmaster counts total and partial distance, can be corrected by hand and aligned at a waypoint. For navigation events NavX4 validates waypoints and shows a result with section times. This scoring is not checked against official timing and does not replace it.
Generate a roadbook
From a planned route, a running guidance or a recorded track NavX4 generates a GPX roadbook. Tulips can be edited with rally symbols, traffic signs and text, and the original can always be restored. You read and ride roadbooks in the Android app. They live in your account, can be shared and can be uploaded or created from a saved route in the browser at navx4.app.
What NavX4 does not do with roadbooks
- The roadbook area exists only on the phone or tablet in the Android app, not in the browser and not on the car screen.
- The scoring is not official timing.
- Many roadbook features have so far been checked with tests and in the emulator, not in a real rally. Reports through “Report a bug” help.
- No iPhone app.
Frequently asked questions
What is a roadbook?
A roadbook describes a route as a sequence of notes: distance from the start, partial distance and a sketch of the junction, the tulip. You ride by odometer and sketch instead of by map.
Can I use a PDF roadbook on my phone?
Yes. The NavX4 Android app shows PDF roadbooks as a roll with a tripmaster alongside. You move it on by tap.
Can I create my own roadbook?
Yes. NavX4 generates a GPX roadbook from a planned route, a guidance or a recorded track, and you can edit its tulips.
Is there a tripmaster app for Android?
NavX4 includes a tripmaster in the roadbook area of the Android app, with total and partial distance and correction. It is free.
