How much gravel do you want?
Four profiles: fastest avoids unpaved roads, shortest counts kilometres and allows gravel, adventure looks for well driveable gravel, maximum unpaved takes as much as possible. In a loop you set the gravel share directly. After the calculation you see the mix of surfaces, the sections with their surface on the map and an elevation profile with gradients.
Why this route?
NavX4 explains why a section was chosen or excluded: because of an access rule, the vehicle class, a dimension or the surface. Fords, gradients and rough surfaces appear as notes with metres. You see before the trip where it gets rough.
Points for new kilometres
With an account and guidance in the Android app you collect points: 30 per offroad kilometre, 1 per road kilometre and 1 per 10 metres of climb. Three levels show how far you have come.
Who NavX4 is not for
- NavX4 routes motor vehicles: cars, 4x4s, pickups and motorcycles. There is no profile for gravel bikes, bicycles or hiking.
- Surface data comes from OpenStreetMap and is missing on some roads. Routes calculated offline carry no surface data.
- No iPhone app.
Frequently asked questions
Is there navigation that prefers gravel roads?
Yes. Depending on the profile NavX4 prefers gravel and unpaved roads that map data says are open to your vehicle. In a loop you choose the gravel share yourself.
Is NavX4 for gravel bikes?
No. NavX4 routes motor vehicles and has no bicycle profile. Gravel bikes use other roads and rules.
How do I see how much gravel is on my route?
NavX4 shows the mix of surfaces for every route and the sections with their surface on the map, in the Android app and in the browser.
Can I find unpaved roads near me?
Let NavX4 build a loop from your location with a high gravel share. It uses roads that map data says are open to your vehicle; the signs on site decide.
